It’s Friday, and it is time for another quick experiment. For the next few days, I will cross-post from the Micro.blog to my Mastodon account and see how it goes. I’m unsure if I will add more confusion than anything else.
@numericcitizen I follow your micro blog via RSS, seeing the kind of content you post, I think it’s perfectly suited for Mastodon.
@numericcitizen only thing that I am confused about is the difference between
https://numericcitizen.me
and
https://blog.numericcitizen.me
and
https://micro.blog/numericcitizen
I just want to know where best to follow your work, and what each stream is for and about.
Do you have it explained anywhere?
@eshwarnag the last two (blog.numericcitizen.me == micro.blog/numericcitizen). numericcitizen.me used to be my main blog started in 2018. I'll continue to post over there but only longer articles that goes deeper into a subject. Get all the details here on my About page: https://www.craft.do/s/9ILVvNnwHVAmJk
@numericcitizen hey quick question, what service/platform did you use to create your blog.numericcitizen.me? Like how are your micro blog posts showing up here?
@eshwarnag it’s part of Micro.blog basic support for Fediverse which covers basic functionalities with Mastodon.
@numericcitizen after seeing your micro.blog site, I am really interested to own my feed site too instead of letting Mastodon or Twitter own our content.
What’s your experience with micro.blog and are they here for the long term?
@eshwarnag superb experience with them. It’s a small team but they’ve been there for quite a while. Your content is easily exportablle if you need. You can even have your posts archived on Github https://github.com/jfmartin67/numericcitizen-archives
@numericcitizen Interesting. I love their cross-posting, this way I can just post to micro.blog which will be the home for my feed and it gets syndicated to Twitter and Mastodon as well.
Thanks!
@eshwarnag this is what I’m doing actually.
@numericcitizen yes. this seems to be the best way to own our feed.
I am planning to split my content in this way
domain.com -> personal brand
blog.domain.com -> long form
feed.domain.com -> fleeting thoughts
@eshwarnag and I thought my setup was complex
@numericcitizen sorry for bugging you so much today, I was just trying to post using micro.blog iOS app. Mastodon cross posting cannot be done using iOS app?
@eshwarnag nope. It’s done using a configuration in the Accounts section. Will come soon on the iOS app I’m told.
