Many web sites, when logging in, offer to "remember" my having properly 2FA-authed. Usually, they state a memory-term between 30 and 180 days (in 30-day increments). I have one account that will only offer to remember for 24 hours. What's really annoying is that my cloud backup service doesn't state any expiry-horizon. As such, I (not unreasonably) assume that it's indefinite. Yet, every time I login to verify that my external (USB-attached) hard drive was backed up, I'm prompted for 2FA validation. Fucking </span><a href="https://evil.social/tags/annoying" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#annoying</a><span>.</span></p>
ferricoxide<p><span>One of the projects I'm on uses a third-party </span><a href="https://evil.social/tags/2FA" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#2FA</a><span> solution to protect logins to their services. Even when using the CLI to access the services, one has to authenticate through the browser, first. Unfortunately, the CLI's authentication-handler seems to have a bad tendency — at least in the past two weeks — to corrupt the the relevant browser-cache data (at least when using </span><a href="https://evil.social/tags/Firefox" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Firefox</a><span> as a browser). This manifests by getting an error when trying to authenticate the CLI. Only fix seems to be clearing Firefox's cache. I feel like the options that Firefox offers for cache-clearing are too limited. They </span><i><span>should</span></i><span> offer an arbitrary-time and/or pre-defined, day-level clearing (e.g., 1 day, 3 days, 7 days) and not just a few hours' worth or "everything for all time".</span></p>
