Greg Saunier<p>I wish we could find a better solution than grub screws for attaching pulleys to shafts in 3D printing. Small-scale requirements make it difficult to use other industrial systems.</p><p>Grub screws often loosen under the effect of vibration even with Loctite. They also introduce eccentricity. And the tip of the grub screws marks the shaft, making it difficult to remove the pulley.</p><p>Any idea how we could improve this?</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dptech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dptech</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dprinting_tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting_tech</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/pulley" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pulley</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/motion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>motion</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/belt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>belt</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/grub_screw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>grub_screw</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://techhub.social/@3dprinting" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>3dprinting</span></a></span></p>
Greg Saunier<p>1/2 I regularly talk about the risks of using electronic components or control boards from stores like Aliexpress for your 3D printers. Recently, several YouTubers discovered that the fuses were not up to specs! ☠️🔥</p><p>📽️ <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwjSZ-g1qa0" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=YwjSZ-g1qa</span><span class="invisible">0</span></a></p><p>This is also true for low cost 3D printers, they will cut everywhere they can and that could include the fuses.</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dptech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dptech</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dprinting_tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting_tech</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://techhub.social/@3dprinting" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>3dprinting</span></a></span> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/aliexpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aliexpress</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/safety" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>safety</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/electronic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronic</span></a></p>
Greg Saunier<p>One thing that is rarely tested is that the faster you print, the weaker the layer adhesion. I'm pleased to finally see a video demonstrating this problem. These tests are only made with PLA and a single hotend, but it is a great start to see how quickly it can drop.</p><p>📽️ <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWKhB_4WTkc" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=SWKhB_4WTk</span><span class="invisible">c</span></a> <br>By DIY Perspective</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/speed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>speed</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/extrusion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>extrusion</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hotend" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hotend</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dptech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dptech</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dprinting_tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting_tech</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/layer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>layer</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/adhesion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>adhesion</span></a></p>
Greg Saunier<p>One of the most interesting 3D printing tech video I have seen in a while. Building an extruder isn't just about push force and weight, it is a lot more complex. To the point it is really difficult to make an in depth review. We can see how advanced E3D is in their R&amp;D. Also, some good questions from Stefan and Tom.</p><p>"Did we do a bad job in testing extruders? (feat.
