This morning I am mildly amused by #Alexa's different responses to "Is today Monday?" (Yes) and "Is it Monday?" (the days, hours, and minutes until _next_ Monday).

I reckon two different people wrote the code for those responses, without talking to each other and without checking for prior art first. I wonder which came first.

The old song was mentioned in the book I'm reading, so I asked #Alexa to play “I’m Henery the Eighth, I Am” by Herman's Hermits. Since I don't have Amazon Music Unlimited, she tacked on "and related music" to the request, and I've been listening for over ninety minutes.

What's odd this time is that “Henery the Eighth” has been repeated every half hour or so. I don't recall that happening before.

Today #Amazon will force all your voice data from #Alexa through its #AI cloud. That means every word spoken in its presence goes right to Amazon Corporate. Worse, you can't disable this.

Oh, and if you think it isn't sending random conversations to HQ, you don't know Amazon's legal history. They even record children on their kiddie devices -- and store the data indefinitely.

Unless you want to mute the device 24x7 and make it useless, today's the day to ditch Alexa.
