cs<p>Ok, with chatter on Mastodon about <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Alienoid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Alienoid</span></a>, decided to watch this afternoon on Hulu. It is funny how this has never shown up in any recommended watching, and that goes to show that their algorithms are not great.</p><p>Anyway, this thing is a wild mishmash of alien sci-fi, time travel, and Goryeo martial arts fantasy. commonst<p>I have a <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Viki" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Viki</span></a> subscription using Google Play, and it looks like because I set this up on my phone I can't rent via a browser on my computer which is how I usually stream. If I want to rent a movie I have to rent it on my phone in app then cast to a computer. I am finding this a challenge because I created a burner Outlook account for the media machine and I can't seem to set it up on my phone to cast, and I don't want to put my actual MS account on the media machine. I may have somehow just outsmarted myself and I have no idea how to get around this.</p><p>The Viki help page for rentals is a broken link, so that is no help either.</p><p>Sadly, this means no <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Alienoid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Alienoid</span></a> part 2 until I work it out.</p><p>Damn it. Fanua 🌐<p>Alienoid 1 (2022) & 2 (2024) <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Kmovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kmovie</span></a> is wild, with some comedy in the mix, both good. It's not your typical scifi future aliens in Goryeo timejump save the world flick (ha!). Starring Ryu Jun Yeol, Kim Tae Ri, Kim Woo Bin. So many well known supporting actors. Jin Seon Kyu has a bit part in <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Alienoid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Alienoid</span></a> 2. Both he and Kim Tae Ri were in scifi Space Sweepers (2021) with Song Joong Ki (I liked that one too). </p><p>I hope there's a part 3. Abigail<p>Watched Alienoid: Return to the Future (2024) last night. I didn't like it as much as the first one. It doesn't work as a standalone movie, which is to be expected. It doesn't even work as a sequel, which is also understandable as it's really Part 2 of the first one. Aliens have been using Earth, more precisely, human bodies, as prisons. Unfortunately, some alien criminals have escaped & the guards must hunt them down before they can harm humans.</p><p>Time travel, robots, aliens, mages, shamans, shape-shifters, a bounty hunter & a woman with a gun - the kitchen sink of sci-fi & it knows it, so it doesn't take itself too seriously. There are many nods to western sci-fi classics. There's too much action, too many over-the-top scenes, generally too much of everything. It is a thrilling, fine-tuned balance of comedy & action.</p><p>Great effects, stellar acting by all, magic, sword fights in silk robes, amazingly choreographed fight scenes & the mystery of the Joseon woman with the gun make this a fabulous watch.
