Some #R #rstats about the packages on the repositories: #CRAN has 722 packages that use Bioconductor (3%), #Bioconductor has 2802 packages that use CRAN's packages (77%).
1.3% CRAN and 0.6% Bioconductor respectively use package outside these two repositories. But 91% and 93% use packages on their respective repos. 8% and 3% do not have any dependency on external packages (but could depend on system dependencies).

10/ Why is this useful? When normalizing H3K36me3 signals (found in gene bodies), you can use gene lengths for proper normalization. Also, for RNA-seq, exon lengths are essential for calculating metrics like RPKM (though TPM is preferred now).

My very first #Bioconductor package is now in the devel release

This package brings {dplyr} verbs to S4 DataFrames ({S4Vectors}) so no need to detour your data through a tibble to slice, dice, and transform it. This also means that S4 columns (e.g. GRanges, NumericList, ...) are supported.
#Bioconductor's BiocGenerics is considering adding dplyr as a dependency to avoid #rstats namespace conflicts within @bioconductor :
