Yehor 🇺🇦<p>A report on <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Plex" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Plex</span></a> on my <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Synology" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Synology</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/DS223" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DS223</span></a>.</p><p>First I moved Plex to Synology together with the external drive I'm using for the media library. <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/qBittorrent" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>qBittorrent</span></a>, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Jackett" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Jackett</span></a>, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Sonarr" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Sonarr</span></a>, and <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Radarr" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Radarr</span></a> was still sitting on a <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/NUC" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NUC</span></a> and operating with the library on a mounted <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/cifs" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>cifs</span></a> from NAS.</p><p>Then I discovered <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SynoCommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SynoCommunity</span></a> and to my surprise, it had all the software packages I needed, except for qBittorrent. But it had <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Transmission" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Transmission</span></a> and also *arr software can use <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/DownloadStation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DownloadStation</span></a> as a download client. So after a quick and easy setup and some permission management, I had all my media stack moved to a NAS even without docker.</p><p>While Plex was working on a library, NAS had up to 95% of CPU utilized, but I still was able to navigate through it, change settings and move files around as it was not busy at all.</p><p>No issues so far during playback. Everything was working flawlessly locally without transcoding.</p><p>Needless to say, I'm happy with it so far. <br /><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@blackvoid" class="u-url mention">@<span>blackvoid</span></a></span><br /><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>homelab</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/selfhosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>selfhosted</span></a></p>
