Just created a pretty neat #automation with #AlfredApp that does the following:
Typing “journal” followed by some text designating an entry title creates a new #DayOne and opens the #DayOneApp to that new entry.

I did not realise the #dayoneapp was owned by Automattic.
Given the Mullenweg saga that appears to be engulfing Wordpress, I'm concerned that most of the voids we can scream into appear to be owned by arseholes.
Thankfully Mastodon appears to be safe for now, particularly this instance.
Can't decide if I want to try Apple's Journal app or stick with #DayOneApp #journaling
I started journaling with #DayOneApp again recently… and it’s going well! Here are a few thoughts I have on #journaling, consistency, and what it all means to me.

A quick update that after trying a few things and them not working out so well, I decided to just manually copy over each Xanga post into Day One. (Over 300 done with many to go!) It's been quite amusing so far! Oh, the things a 20-25 year old college guy posted about in the early 2000’s…
Came across the backup I made of my old Xanga site. Wowwww there’s so much to dig through! Currently checking to see if there’s a way to import the posts into Day One. If not, I may end up needing to do it by hand. It’d be great to have all of these memories in a modern app!
Depuis 2 mois, j'essaie l'app #Journal d'#Apple.

@sinky Been using #DayOneApp for over 10 years now and still love it. It has way more features than the Apple journal app. Been very happy with my use of it and it’s fun to look back on so many memories.
I tried the #apple Journal app on release and quite enjoyed it.
I had never kept a #journal before and although the app was okay, it’s still a little bared boned.
I decided to try out #DayOneApp one month free trial.
After a few days i decided i was going to sub for the year as i was enjoying it.
I like the idea of looking back over time; what I was doing, my thoughts, what I was watching/playing, including adding pictures/photos.
The beauty is that it takes no more than 5-10 minutes a day.
Je repense au billet écrit par @urbanbike il y a quelques jours.
J'ai eu utilisé #DayOneApp, mais je m'en servais peu et n'étais pas certain d'accrocher, donc je n'ai pas suivi l'abonnement après essai.
Maintenant j'essaie l'app #Journal d'iOS 17.2, et ça me plait bien. Mais je suis frustré. Et plus je m'en sers, plus je me demande si ça ne va pas devenir une habitude, et donc probablement me faire basculer sur #DayOneApp.

iPhones don’t glitch they said.
Now you see me, now you don’t.
My digital detox is officially over! The wheels may have fallen off at the end, but I got there.
Here is my final post about it (until I start another).

#DayOneApp One year… (cc @urbanbike)
My current iPhone setup for July.
I switch my home screen around each to reset my muscle memory and try to stick with the apps on the single page. All other apps have to be searched for. The only social media app I have on my phone is @MonaApp.
@techprofessor @kylewritescode Be interesting to see if it is good enough to tempt me away from Day One. I just love reading ‘On This Day’ in #DayOneApp
While I’m nursing a welcome coffee… I’m wondering if there’s any way for #DayOneApp to auto-import my Mastodon ‘toots’, as I did with BlooBirbNet™. I miss BBN less than I thought I would, but it would be nice for #DayOne to pull in what I post to my Mastodon, without me having to enter them manually.
There: even in 2022, my concerns often look so small. I suppose that’s something to be grateful for.
