The other three are: Russian sports minister Mikhail Degtyaryov, an oligarch’s sister called Gulbahor Ismailova, and Russian businessman Vladimir Rashevsky Three recently deceased people (a Russian politician and two military officers - Nikolai Ryzhkov, Andrei Ermishko, and Aleksei Bolshakov) are also to be taken out, in a routine clean-up exercise.The 11th-hour compromise means all 1,872 other individuals will remain under an asset-freeze and visa-ban until 15 September, when the next six-month rollover falls due.The Kremlin-friendly Hungary, backed by Slovakia, had also pushed to delist Russian moguls Pyotr Aven, Musa Bazhaev, Mikhail Fridman, Dmitry Mazepin, and Alisher Usmanov (Ismailova’s brother), under a threat to veto the whole EU list if it did not get its way.Luxembourg had, likewise, sought to get Fridman delisted, the FT reported, after he sued the Duchy for billions over his asset-freeze, because one of his holding companies is based there.The EU has frozen some €24.9bn of private Russian assets under the blacklist.Kantor was the biggest fish out of the four to be let off the hook.The 71-year-old was previously the head of the European Jewish Congress, a Brussels-based lobby group, which had often pleaded for him to be let back into the EU.He also has British and Israeli citizenship, reportedly lives in Tel Aviv, and is said by US magazine Forbes to be worth €8bn."He has close ties to [Russian] president Vladimir Putin. The crematorium was set on fire, burning and burying documents to conceal the crimes.I first visited in 2012, while in Lublin attending the European Juggling Convention. I returned in 2017, when the <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EJC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#EJC</a> returned to <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Lublin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Lublin</a>.Next weekend the EJC comes back to Lublin and I anticipate making my 3rd visit Majdanek Memorial.It is a haunting place.

European Juggling ConventionHello Jugglers and Circus Family! We have an update for <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EJC2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#EJC2023</a>. After many difficulties securing a site for the Convention, we are delighted to say we are now in final negotiations with a venue. We are working on this process at full speed, and hope to have a final decision and contract by the end of March. The final decision on the site will be made very soon. The team are fully dedicated and strong and are fully confident of hosting the <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EJC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#EJC</a> this summer. Our dates remain 29 July - 6 Aug 2023

European Juggling ConventionTodays video by the IJA "Juggling News January 2023" mentions that we have lost our previous venue but also uses a "Cancelled" graphic. The <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EJC2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#EJC2023</a> Team would like to clarify that as things stand this years <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EJC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#EJC</a> is not cancelled, we are in the final stages working with our new venue and getting all the paper work sorted before we make any more official announcements, but we will have more information to share very soon.
