It started on <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Fedora41" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora41</span></a> with internet problems (couldn't connect to my network neither using wifi or lan). I then tried to install <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Fedora42" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora42</span></a> from liveusb where the installer just froze every time. </p><p>I chose to install Fedora 41, and then upgrade to Fedora 42 from the software center. That did work but next day connectivity issues reappeared. I want to switch.</p>
Kiraso<p>Upgraded my main workstation from <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Fedora40" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora40</span></a> to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Fedora42" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora42</span></a>. Smooth experience overall, with just a couple of quirks:<br>1. Globally installed <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Python</span></a> packages haven't survived the upgrade and had to be re-installed<br>2. The latest version of <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> that <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/veracrypt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>veracrypt</span></a> publishes a package for is 40. This was the main reason I didn't upgrade to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/fedora41" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fedora41</span></a>. But version 40 got too close to EOL, so I had to learn how to build VeraCrypt from source code.</p><p>part 1/2</p>

I mean, new fonts.</p><p>Listing the issues encountered so far:</p><p>- gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free, gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld and kf5-kitinerary making the upgrade unable to start because there was no equivalent in the fc42 repositories<br>- ghostty (that I don't use) induced version conflicts with some libncurses, resolved nuking ghostty and feeling better for it</p><p>Now going to apply and reboot. If you never read from me again, it failed.</p>
