#grieving

Good morning denizens! It’s been illuminating hanging out with you but now the clock and the cats are demanding attention.
I’m #grieving the loss of a dear old friend and remembering 40 years of friendship. I’m reminded in this loss of how precious we are to each other and how showing up for each other is everything. We don’t need all the answers or all the money - we just need each other’s presence at times- and an intentional focus on joy and fun between the unavoidable hardships. Love big.❤️

The Telephone of the Wind was created in Japan by Itaru Sasaki, while grieving his cousin who died of cancer. He purchased an old-fashioned phone booth and set it up in his garden. He installed an obsolete rotary phone not connected to wires or any "earthly system." Here, Itaru felt a continued connection to his cousin and found comfort and healing amid his grief. Itaru gave his phone booth a name, Kaze No Denwa (風の電話), Telephone of the Wind.

TFW you are grieving and you wake up full of energy, do yoga, make yourself a vegetable smoothie, take a nice cleansing ritual shower, anoint in oils... and then you get blindsided by a tiny piece of the thing you are grieving that you haven't processed yet. 😰💔😭❤️‍🩹🥹🥳

“Using AI to #resurrect the dead has raised #ethical questions elsewhere. In 2020, Jang Ji-sung, a mother of four in South Korea, was virtually reunited with an AI-generated #avatar of her dead 7-year-old daughter. Ji-sung had said this helped her say farewell to her child, but “many #psychologists have come up and said this might, in some cases, make the #grieving process longer,” Rojas said.”

Rest of World · Companies in Mexico embrace AI to resurrect the deadUse of AI on images of the dead is unregulated in the country, leaving cybersecurity experts worried about the potential for deepfakes and identity theft.

This mound of wheat stalks has been taking up space in my old study for almost a year. There's a story behind the delay, I guess. I harvested our first crop of wheat when Mieko was struggling with the first signs of ALS. I threshed and cleaned it by hand, working obsessively. This crop was planted after she died, and I think I've put off processing it to keep memory of that time under wraps.

But it needs to be done, and I'm ready for the work now. Small steps.

@kampf Sorry for your loss. May you and yours find peace and the support you need. I've accompanied my spouse on the journey twice... you can never really be fully ready.

Curiously I had not seen your post but just finished posting an item on #grieving too.
