Tyler K. Nothing<p>Well, this is rather fascinating! Some mad genius hacked a Nokia Lumia 1020 to run #Apple’s #iOS for #iPhone. The trick? Inside the Lumia is an iPhone SE 3!! Still pretty damned cool, if I do say so myself. #retrocomputing #hardwarehacks #tech <a href="https://www.macworld.com/article/2611931/someone-hacked-a-windows-phone-to-run-ios.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">www.macworld.com/article/2…</a></p>

Tyler K. Nothing<p>If you’ve got yourself an OG <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/iMac" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iMac</span></a> G3 and can't work on it because the internal sub-frame is falling apart, there is a fix on the way! I'm more of a PowerBook guy, but I'm dealing with some brittle plastics as well, but I feel for my G3 peeps. Check out Seth's video as he saves a machine from certain death with a pre-production replacement part. <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/computerRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>computerRepair</span></a> <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/hardwarehacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardwarehacks</span></a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWOSkVL-0Ac" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=yWOSkVL-0A</span><span class="invisible">c</span></a></p>

Gee 'Rabid Inventor' Bartlett<p>So prying the cover off and have a look to see if I can find what has failed. So took the top off, all the wires seemed intact none of the sockets where loose built in single sided phonolic PCB for extra cheapness. Noting a couple of missing components but nothing out of the ordinary just a cap and a crystal not unusual if it had a more integrated solution. Thinking rest of the components are on the other side probably a GL850 hub IC <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardware</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hardwarehacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardwarehacking</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hardwarehacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardwarehacks</span></a></p>
Gee 'Rabid Inventor' Bartlett<p>Just had a Monday morning electronics LOL. I have had this 4 port usb hub on my desk for a few weeks. I found it knocking around at work and thought it would be useful. Well plugged it in and none of the ports appeared to work. <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/thread" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>thread</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/teardown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>teardown</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardware</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hardwarehacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardwarehacking</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/hardwarehacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardwarehacks</span></a></p>
Micca<p>This is attempt #4 for DIY eye tracking in the vive pro 2</p><p>It... Works but I'm going for a revision 6 to maybe move all the LEDs behind the shroud.</p><p>Yes I skipped 5 because it was worse.</p><p>In VR I can use single eye tracking reliably but dual eye leads to so many crossed eye moments.</p><p><a href="https://charr.engineer/tags/vr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vr</span></a> <a href="https://charr.engineer/tags/eyetracking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>eyetracking</span></a> <a href="https://charr.engineer/tags/eyetrackvr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>eyetrackvr</span></a> <a href="https://charr.engineer/tags/hardwarehacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardwarehacks</span></a></p>
