Spotted my first #hummingbird of the season. iPhone doesn’t do justice but since I ran and got my camera… he hasn’t come back.

So the wife and I went to Disneyland yesterday.

Unlike her photo reel, which is full of photos of us at the park and various other human-centric things, the only thing I shot was this brave hummingbird among some towering kangaroo paw flowers.

Am I defective?

The first hummingbird, probably a female rufous. The overwintering and passing through Anna's left a month ago and probably headed north.

Mrs. and Mr. rufous hummingbird are enjoying the abundance of nectar at this time of year.

This one took me 3h30, I obviously had a lot of fun with the head feathers!

I picked a new bird a few days ago but I haven’t had the time/energy to continue it. Also I draw these for fun so I try really hard not to pressure myself, which is not easy haha
But I’m having a lot of fun with this little dude

Life lesson: perseverance eventually pays off. I took about 300 photos of hummingbirds this afternoon and managed to get a few good ones. Never give up, my friends, never give up!
