Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:<a href="https://mastodon.social/@nixCraft" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@nixCraft</a> I've been fully <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Wayland</a> for a couple of years in my :archlinux: :kde: :plasma: <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/ArchLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ArchLinux</a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/KDEPlasma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma</a> - whilst the native KDE app <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Spectacle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Spectacle</a> works fine in Wayland, my fav screen capture & editing app, <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Ksnip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Ksnip</a>, remains broken. It runs, but cannot actually capture anything, only throw errors. <blockquote>Unable to show image No image provided but one was expected. </blockquote>That's for its limited capture options of <code>Window under cursor</code>, <code>Current screen</code>, & <code>Full screen (All Monitors)</code>. My fav mode, <code>Rectangular area</code>, which works so well in X11, is not even offered in Wayland.

So, fwiw, instead of using a kb shortcut like you, when i want to use <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/spectacle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#spectacle</a> instead of either <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/flameshot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#flameshot</a> or <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ksnip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ksnip</a>, i left-click my Spectacle icon on my custom secondary Plasma launcher panel, which then launches S immediately in <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/RectangularArea" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#RectangularArea</a> capture mode [my most commonly-used one]. So, it seems like we both get there, from different directions, heehee.

Better than both, coz not only for ST minimisation but also delightfully being tabbed [ie, multiple pics available simultaneously] is <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ksnip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ksnip</a>. Works perfectly in <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/x11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#x11</a>, sadly only partly in <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#wayland</a> [no rectangular area].
