MUST SEE TV: David #Letterman dropping by #TheTonightShow during Jimmy Fallon's monologue.

Dave was in peak form -- he took over the show so completely it seemed like Jimmy was the guest.

Watch for many of his signature moves, like putting crew on camera and deftly but wonderfully razzing others and himself equally.

By the end, he was riffing with Paul (yes!) while tossing tortillas to the crowd just those quintessential blue cue cards.

We miss you, Dave.

[re: Airplane! 1980] Ted Stryker was written for David Letterman! Caitlin Jenner & Barry Manilow read for Stryker in 1979! The red zone/ white zone voices were the same married couple who voiced announcements at LAX! This rabbit hole is fertile so you're all goin' with me LOL

David #Letterman is far from any kind of saint, but you do have to give him credit for picking feuds with popular people who really deserved to be taken down a couple pegs like Leno and Oprah. Oprah is still untouchable in many minds despite a full career of promoting pseudoscience, frauds, and junk psychology as much as she could.

Always feud with people you can seem more likeable than, that's always my motto.

Just saw this clip and I vividly remember watching this live on Letterman as it aired in 1994, when I was 14. For a kid like me growing up without cable in the middle of nowhere, Letterman & Conan were the best ways to see new, often semi-underground bands on TV in the 90s. Not that STP was underground at this point. But you get what I'm saying.

Spacehog, for example, I saw first on Letterman. That kind of thing.

As Andy Ihnatko mentioned just now on MacBreak Weekly, here is part one of the Terri Garr on Letterman collection. I’m a big Terri Garr fan and these are some of my favorite YouTube videos. #terrigarr #letterman #youtube #comedy #tv #macbreakweekly #twit
