Major sudden stratospheric warming forecast, final polar vortex collapse of the season signals mid-March freeze

The final polar vortex collapse of the 2024-25 winter season is forecast to occur in mid-March as a strong stratospheric warming event develops, potentially leading to significant weather disruptions across the Northern Hemisphere.

An analysis by Andrej Flis of Severe Weather Europe (SWE) indicates that the second polar vortex collapse of 2025 is expected to occur in mid-March. This follows the previous collapse in mid-February, which brought record-breaking cold temperatures across the United States. #weather #polarvortex

#Bees didn't make it through the second #PolarVortex in late January. Did an inspection today. Can't figure why they never moved up into upper deep super full of capped #honey 🍯& so they froze. Looked like a lot died in the first #PolarVortex & the remainder during the second. I pulled 8 frames full of capped honey (both sides) & brought them in. I'm going to have to extract honey soon. Left the other mostly empty frames out there in a deep box. I will have to put lure out soon. #beekeeping

I decided to make a longer #video ca 10 mins (editing is..fun..lol) Cutting #firewood in the #bush on a couple of recent #cold days
I make noise with tarps, crunch around on snow, use a chainsaw + wood splitting maul (big heavy axe- don't call it an axe..lol). Lots of ASMR some plain old noise + jibber jabber as I talk + pretty #forest views of frost crystals falling

More cold weather across the U.S. this week so you're probably hearing the term "polar vortex" once again. Yes it is the cause of the cold air, but there's a lot of confusion about it. I wrote a post about the polar vortex and how it works.
