Joene's PixelfedNew collection: *Polykastro and along the A1/E75, Greece* (5-13 May 2016, <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/c/835201164149764147" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://pix.joenepraat.nl/c/835201164149764147</a>). Related and the continuation of the collection 'Idomeni, Greece' (<a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/c/834486164830621697" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://pix.joenepraat.nl/c/834486164830621697</a>).<br> <br> This first post are pictures from <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Polykastro?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Polykastro</a> (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polykastro" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polykastro</a>). The first two are from the town itself and the rest is from a warehouse at the edge of the town, where donated clothes, shoes, etc. were sorted. I also volunteered for a day. Except the final photo is from the other side of the street of the Park Hotel, the HQ of the volunteers (like Hot Food Idomeni).<br> <br> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Kilkis?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Kilkis</a> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Paionia?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Paionia</a> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/refugees?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#refugees</a> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/NoBordersNoNations?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#NoBordersNoNations</a> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Greece?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Greece</a>
Joene's PixelfedWelcome to my new Pixelfed account, hosted on my own Pixelfed server! :pixelfed: Finally I did it! Here I'm going to publish older images from various travels I made through the years. I'm going to post these in multiple posts with max. 20 images. The first 4 of those are federated to Mastodon, but you can click through to the original post on Joene's Pixelfed. 🚀 These posts will be collected in… 🎉 surprise… collections (only on Joene's Pixelfed).<br> <br> The first batch is from 5-13 May 2016 in <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Idomeni?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Idomeni</a> (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idomeni" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idomeni</a>) and the surrounding area. This was a refugee camp in the north of <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Greece?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Greece</a> at the then militarized border of <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/NorthMacedonia?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#NorthMacedonia</a>, that was short after my visit evicted by the Greek government (<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36358891" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36358891</a>). Originally I went there for my study journalism, but this didn't work out. I found volunteering much more important. 📢 A shout out to Hot Food Idomeni (<a href="https://www.facebook.com/Hotfoodidomeni" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.facebook.com/Hotfoodidomeni</a>)! This collective of mostly <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/anarchists?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#anarchists</a> cooked every day for more than 5,000 <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/refugees?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#refugees</a>. They had their camp in/near a motel just outside <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Polykastro?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Polykastro</a> (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polykastro" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polykastro</a>). There was also another collective that did the same, but cooked on the camp. They spoke Spanish, but I forgot their name. <br> <br> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/anarchism?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#anarchism</a> <a href="https://pix.joenepraat.nl/discover/tags/Ειδομένη?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Ειδομένη</a>
