BioMed CentralDark personality traits are associated with academic misconduct, frustration, negative thinking, and generative AI use habits: the case of Sichuan art universities - BMC PsychologyBackground Academic misconduct among students is common, particularly now that AI tools are widely available. Students with dark personality traits may be more likely to engage in misconduct. Drawing on social cognitive theory, this study examines how the dark personality traits of materialism, narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism are associated with academic dishonesty, anxiety, and procrastination, and, in turn, frustration, negative thinking and generative AI use habits. Method Self-reported data from 504 Chinese university art students were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results Results showed that dark personality traits were significantly associated with academic dishonesty, anxiety, and procrastination, and that these markers of academic misbehavior were linked to increased frustration, negative thinking, and generative AI use. Conclusion The findings highlight how personality traits are related to problematic academic behaviors and psychological difficulties. Academic institutions should provide appropriate training and psychological support to counter academic dishonesty and ensure students understand the value of academic ethics.

Bush-hogged yesterday, but it was too hot to rake up the detritus for the compost heap. Early morning is cooler, so I left it for today. At dawn, all those pulverized weeds were soaked with dew, so I don’t need to water the pile. Umm, right, just the way I planned it! #composting #procrastination

I want to get back to coding, but when I'm about to, something gets in the way and I end up procrastinating around it. Or doing something else. Every goddamn time. Needless to say, I feel bad about it afterwards (read : all the time).

But from Friday, I'll be freed from most of the usual excuses for five straight weeks. I'm hoping to break the vicious cycle this time, and hopefully get back to being productive, somehow. At last.

Going back into work tomorrow after four days off. It felt good, didn't relax as much as I wanted but got a bunch of stuff done. Got rid of a few items for sale, changed a bearing on my car and even reassembled part of the interior (more on this later) All in all a good few days. Kind of hit a lull yesterday afternoon and today, just didn't feel up to doing anything, oh well there are days like that. #weekend #holidays #procrastination #productive

Everyday ,we always start our day with little challenges that face us once we wake up. Then the day goes on and the challenges may increase.
For me, making a cup of tea maybe a challenge sometimes, or waking up at a certain time too. I will describe in general some common daily challenges and how to overcome them.

I'm slightly embarrassed to say, but my desktop OS (Ubuntu 18.04) has been 'out of standard support' for well over two years now. Much of the software has no more update paths. Plus there are a few well-publicized security holes, the fixes for which aren't backported (naturally).

But: it's my #GeekWeek, so no more excuses. I finally backed up my data, and I'll wipe the hard disk and (hopefully manage to) do a clean Ubuntu install today.

Hurrah for #procrastination!

I've been eyeing off some affordable, yet unnecessary toys, but kept umming & aahing.

I'd finally *almost* decided, just not which toy, when life intervened, blocking such thoughts. Then unexpected large expenses arrived, as they do.

Today I checked the toy market, & my two most interesting options were sold.

A sign!

Unsure if the sign's "you snooze you lose" or "you don't need more toys, use those you have" 🤔 😂

Maybe a flash garden tool instead...
