I'll probably get a used iPhone 12 mini, just to make sure I don't use it for anything but a camera and basic texting (and one or two incidental work-y things) — my eyes don't like small phones.

I'd miss Syncthing and termux (native and nearly feature-complete local linux userspace) the most.

The #RCS debacle was already frustrating me a great deal, and now this latest thing of making Android less and less FOSS is even more frustrating.

Egad to switch to FaceID? Ugh, that's just unthinkable. Maybe a used iPhone SE2. Such bad options. I hate the gesture navigation, too. I tried really hard to get used to it on Android, and gave up an went back to the clunky three-button navigation.

Maybe I'll switch to stock Android and learn how to disable the more odious googley things, but that's gross, too. :(

So, looks like my choices are:

Kaleidoscope unicorn vomit from Cupertino

Gradually-sabotaged and outdated FOSS Android

Privacy-invading proprietary Android that all but tells you to install an authentication dongle up your butt (that'd be Meta's version, for sure)

Nigh unusable and buggy and/or limited Linux phone

Go live in a cave

Maybe I can get a local realtor to show me some nice caves close to town? XD
