Inhae<p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a> : Favourite book!</p><p>Last recap with my favourite book read this year: </p><p>伝説なき地 by Yoichi Funado (船戸与一). </p><p>It won the Mystery Writers of Japan Award in 1989, but it’s not really a mystery, more an action thriller. What is funny is that I was sure I would dislike this book, because adventure/action is not my favourite genre, but I was wrong!</p>
Alice 🛸<p>The Expanse by James S.A. Corey: Re-reading Books 1 to 4</p><p>The Expanse books are a cracking Sci-Fi series. Here are my reviews for the first four books as I reread them in preparation for finally finishing the series!</p><p><a href="https://thewallflowerdigest.co.uk/books/book-reviews/the-expanse-by-james-s-a-corey-re-reading-books-1-to-4/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">thewallflowerdigest.co.uk/book</span><span class="invisible">s/book-reviews/the-expanse-by-james-s-a-corey-re-reading-books-1-to-4/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/3Stars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3Stars</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/5Stars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>5Stars</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BookReviews" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BookReviews</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BookBlog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BookBlog</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BookReview" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BookReview</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Books</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Fiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fiction</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/JamesSACorey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JamesSACorey</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ScienceFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScienceFiction</span></a></p>
Inhae<p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a> : Long books. </p><p>Compared to previous years, I haven’t read as many books in Japanese, partly because I read more in Korean, and partly because I read several long books. The longest is 伝説なき地 by Yoichi Funado (船戸与一 ) with 1058 pages, followed by カディスの赤い星 by Go Osaka (逢坂剛) with 1024 pages.</p>
Inhae<p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a> : Favourite author read this year. </p><p>The author I enjoyed the most reading is Fuboku Kosakai (小酒井不木). I discovered his works through an anthology of Japanese detective fiction, and read several short stories over the course of the year. The stories are short, available on Aozora, and really great if you like crime fiction with medical elements in it! I loved all the stories I read, and I will continue next year for sure! </p><p><a href="https://www.aozora.gr.jp/index_pages/person262.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">aozora.gr.jp/index_pages/perso</span><span class="invisible">n262.html</span></a></p>
Inhae<p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a> Most difficult books 📚. </p><p>I’m continuing my year recap with the books that made me struggle the most. In terms of Japanese level alone, it has to be:<br>- 無惨 by Ruiko Kuroiwa (黒岩涙香).</p><p>But more generally speaking, the two most difficult books I read this year were without a doubt:<br>- 写楽殺人事件 and 北斎殺人事件 by Katsuhiko Takahashi (高橋克彦). </p><p>Even though I want to finish the trilogy, I still haven’t found the courage to start 広重殺人事件… Hoping and waiting for a translation!</p>
Inhae<p>I’m not doing any reading this month, but it’s okay! Instead, I’ve decided to look back on the books I read this year in Japanese and do some year recap 📚.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a>: Easy book. </p><p>Starting today with the easiest book (in terms of Japanese level) read this year:</p><p>- 奇譚ルーム by Kaoru Hayamine (はやみねかおる), a mystery book for children where guests in a chatroom must tell a story good enough to entertain their host otherwise they will be killed…</p>
Inhae<p>My favourite Korean books read this year are:</p><p>- 기기괴괴공모전 수상작품집 by various authors. Great horror stories of strange and bizarre occurrences. <br>- 습기 by 마태 (Matae). A slow-burn psychological thriller about a working mom who has to deal with social pressure and a strange neighbour. <br>- 불귀도 살인사건 by Jeon Gunwoo (전건우). A fast-paced thriller taking place on an isolated island with a serial killing and a scary prophecy.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ReadIn2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadIn2023</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Korean" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Korean</span></a></p>
