@arstechnica IMHO this kind of vehicle exists in a small, mainly urban, testosterone-fueled market where practicality is subsumed by specifications.
In Australia it’d be people who’re cashed up but rarely venture into the kind of terrain where - and this is the irony - those specifications are put to the test.
It’s also sadly ironic that while the world is making small but positive steps towards #righttorepair manufacturing, #automakers are going in the opposite direction making cars unfixable where they break down - out in the bush, and making customers more dependent on dealers.
My #offroad vehicle can be fixed in any small town anywhere in the country and that gives me comfort. And yes it has all the specs mentioned earlier in this thread 😊
Apologies for the rant!

When your stuff breaks, what’s your preferred way to get it fixed?

When OEMs decide to support repair—or when the law makes them—they have four options, each with benefits and drawbacks. The best OEMs use some combination of these repair support channels. 🧵

#iFixit #Repair #RightToRepair

My current phone is doing well, I hope to hold onto it for many years to come.

Hopefully by the time my current phone dies #fairphone will have a model or upgrade with wireless charging. It's a game-changer.

Not just for convenience, but also for reliability. The #2 failure mode (after battery) on every phone I've owned is the charging socket. With wireless charging there's no mechanical failure mode.

Plus: Gentler day-to-day charging gives better battery life.
