It's 5 years since I released my first peripherals for the #RC2014 ecosystem, so have £5 off each of my first releases from June/July 2020!

🟢 SID Soundchip Interface
- Use the legendary Commodore 64 soundchip in your setup (or modern replacement SwinSID or ARMSID). Also incorporates 50/60/100Hz Interrupt Controller (useful too when using other soundchips for timing playback code.)

🟢 Graphic OLED Interface
- Add an easy to use 128x32 pixel graphic display to your setup.

All the info / order / see what else I've released: 2014.samcoupe.com

Other RC2014 peripherals...

- *New for June 2025* SAA1099P Soundchip Interface.
- ZX True Tone (ZXTT), add-on module for Ed Brindley's YM/AY soundcard so it's clocked at the exact same frequency of the 128K ZX Spectrum so speccy tunes are pitch perfect.
- ZX-RC Bus Interface, to use RC2014 I/O peripherals with the #zxspectrum
- SAM-RC Bus Interface, as above but on the #SAMCoupe

Behind the scenes of the DTP of SAM Revival 27, the magazine for the SAM Coupe computer! 😀

In the magazine: New text adventure section, Previews, Developer Diaries, News, etc...

On the accompanying cover disk: The Lower Caverns + more!

Pre-order issues 27 and 28 ->

All back issues of SAM Revival are still available, with both issues 9 and 11 being update and expanded into full colour professionally printed issues. So much SAM Coupe features and software across the back catalogue.

Soak testing new SAA1099P cards for RC2014 via a SAM-RC Bus Interface on my SAM Coupe computer.

With four cards, plus the SAA built into the SAM, that gives a total of 30 SAA sound channels... Hmmm...! 🤪

for all the hardware I've designed for use with the RC2014 ecosystem and compatibles (inc. ZX Spectrum via a ZX-RC Bus Interface!)
- SID Soundchip Interface
- Graphic OLED
- SAA1099P Soundchip Interface
- ZX True Tone (for YM/AY soundcard)
- Bus Interfaces to use RC2014 peripherals with several home computers.

🚨 Website Update!
I've just updated my dedicated website for the hardware I produce for the RC2014.

Now listed are the ZX-RC Bus Interfaces I released in 2022 for connecting RC peripherals to the ZX Spectrum. (Allows 2 RC peripherals to connect, with optional ZX Through Port).

Likewise, the SAM-RC Bus Interfaces (first released in 2019) to connect RC peripherals to the SAM Coupe are also added, available in 2 or 4 port versions.

For all the info, videos showing a selection of RC peripherals working with the two home computers, and to order please see the page at:

Only 5 Copies left from the initial print run of this revamped issue...

🚨 Revamped back issue of SAM Revival issue 9 Out Now!

Following the interest with the back issue of SAM Revival [Magazine for the SAM Coupe computer] I revamped last year the next issue to get the same treatment is issue 9.

First published as black/white in 2004, this issue of SAM Revival was the first issue to also include a cover disk of software. This featured one of my own games, Money Bags, and also with permission the full SAM Coupe version of Manic Miner - the definitive #8bit version with 60 caverns! (A disk image can also be provided for emulator users when bought.)

The magazine itself has been updated with full colour layouts, professionally printed, and features extra pages of updates and new content.

Quick update to my sub site with the peripherals I've designed and released for use with RC2014 systems and compatibles with the RC style expansion connector.

- Added the option to include 'SAM Revival 11' with the new SAA1099P Soundchip Interface. If you're curious about sound on the SAM Coupe computer, which uses the SAA1099P, this back issue of SAM Revival magazine focuses on sound on SAM and includes a 19 track audio CD.

- Added more community links.

🚨 New Release - SAA1099P Soundchip Interface for RC2014 and compatibles.

The SAM Coupe has been my computer of choice for the last 32 years so bringing its sound chip, the Philips SAA1099P, over to the RC2014 and compatible ecosystem is a no brainer, especially following a request asking if it was possible, so here it is!

The SAA1099P can considered to be similar to using two AY sound chips: It provides 6 sound generators (31Hz to 7.81KHz). 2 noise generators and 2 envelope controllers. Separate volume for left and right volumes of each channel. On the interface the I/O port used can be selected with jumpers to avoid clashes with other hardware you have, as well as for using multiple cards in the same system.

In the video the music playing is from the 'Lyra 3' megademo on the SAM Coupe, by the legendary chiptune musician Ziutek from the E.S.I. demogroup.

🚨 Revamped back issue of SAM Revival issue 9 Out Now!

Following the interest with the back issue of SAM Revival [Magazine for the SAM Coupe computer] I revamped last year for the Synthesized show at the Centre for Computing History, the next issue to get the same treatment is issue 9.

Articles include interviews with 2 #SAMCoupe developers from the 90s - Matt Round (@mattround) and Ken Jarvis. I take a look an undocumented #Z80 instruction.

Sadly I wasn't able to make it to RetroFest 2025 in Swindon today (and tomorrow) to exhibit everything I do for the SAM Coupe, ZX Spectrum and RC2014 but from the photos I've seen the event looks fantastic!

However, I will have a few announcements and several releases to unveil over the coming week!

Hadn't seen this clip about Imagine Software before, from the BBC show 'Riverside' in 1983. (I'd only seen the well known 'Commercial Breaks' show).

"An industry dominated by teenagers who could retire as millionaires by 25".

If only! I made £10 for my first published game in my late teens on a SAM Coupe diskzine!

But I'm still developing for the SAM Coupe (and a few other retro platforms...):
