Hey #sqlfamily , curious how everybody is doing Ci/CD. I want to do it. I’ve checked in everything in prod into GitHub. I have access to GitHub Actions. But what do people do to get from dev to prod? If I change a table and add a permission, what scripts out the changes from my dev DB? Looks like Sqlpackage and Flyway? If I can’t have the database look like prod (because of extra audit triggers, etc), how should I handle that? Is there a Recommended Best Practice somewhere? #sqlserver
Do you want to give back and feel like you are part of something important?
If so, get involved in your industry's professional community. I'm glad I started attending and speaking at Microsoft SQL Server events. They are great ways to make new friends and find professional and personal support.
I look forward to the privilege of presenting this year, and I know I'll meet new people and reacquaint with people I already know.
Is there any information specifically on the impact of enabling wait stats capture in query store? I'm in a hyper-cautious company and am being asked about this.
Erin Stellato has never mentioned anything about it, and I don't recall it being me tioned in Tracy and Grant's book on query store.
@QuantumDot2
Thanks for the input.
Yeah, Masto feels like home to me too. Although I'm missing a lot of Data friends and #SQLFamily from the Twitter days. I've heard many of them landed on BlueSky, but I have no plans to go there.
It's really discouraging that they all got the rug pull at Twitter and decided BlueSky was the place to be. Enshittification seems inevitable. And another rug pull isn't out of the question either.
Given the current social media landscape, I'm giving Mastodon another try. I'm also looking to see what other social media platforms have sprung up that I might be interested in.
Dear #SQLFamily, I'm looking for a new laptop. Mainly for Power BI and Data Engineering, should be rock solid and long lasting.
Any specific recommendation?

This problem has been getting the better of me for a while and a snippet of code finally got me over the hump. Shoutout to @HannahVernon for the StackOverflow answer that got me on the right path.
Hey #sqlfamily event organizers,
I finally got around to documenting a Data Platform event organizer process. These are a few things I would have wanted someone to tell me about in 2019.
Feel free to contribute with comments & your own checklist items.
Pagelatch contention has two main causes; tempdb and the hot page issue. My blog at https://www.sqljared.com/blog/page-latch-waits/ provides several possible solutions for the second. #sqlfamily #sqlblog

Hey, #sqlfamily speakers and event organizers, give me your honest/direct feedback. Is this a useful report for you as a conference speaker?
I'm looking for your thoughts on the report - the presentation/visualization - not the questions.
NB: The data is just dummy/test data.
