PhreakByte
Leadership, whether in business or politics, often reveals itself not in moments of grand vision, but in how it handles the people and processes that make the vision possible.

Take Microsoft, for example. Watching them go through yet another round of layoffs, targeting what some call the “glue people”, those who keep teams functioning smoothly across spans and layers is deeply concerning. These are not redundant roles; they are the ones who hold the fabric of the organization together. In tech, we love to talk about scale, but scale breaks without the right connectors.

All this while the company posts record profits and shifts billions toward AI investments that are far from guaranteed to pay off in the way the market hype suggests. The obsession with chasing the next shiny thing without safeguarding the human systems that enable execution is a leadership flaw we’ve seen many times before. History shows us the long-term cost of such decisions: broken cultures, misaligned teams, and ultimately, faltering execution.

And speaking of leadership theater, I couldn’t help but notice the parallel drama playing out in politics. Watching the Democrats strategically force Trump to sit through the 900-page readout followed by one of the longest speeches in congress history was a masterclass in political maneuvering. You can disagree with their goals, but you have to appreciate the tactical understanding of process, endurance, and narrative-building.

Whether you’re running a Fortune 100 company or a political movement, leadership isn’t just about chasing the next big thing or delivering the next soundbite. It’s about understanding how systems work, where your friction points are, and who your real enablers are. Ignore those people, the ones who quietly make everything work, and you will feel the consequences. Maybe not today. But definitely when you need them most.

Long-term thinking isn’t flashy, but it’s what sustains real leadership.

#Leadership #OrganizationalHealth #Microsoft #AI #TechLayoffs #Politics #Strategy #LongGame
