RaymondPierreL3<p>Televised debates are so ‘american’ and do not make or break an electoral campaign. That these had an impact, perhaps, maybe, but would that impact affect outcomes? Overall I think not, maybe in very marginal seats depending on the electorate demographics. </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/AusPol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AusPol</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/AusElection25" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AusElection25</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/TelevisedDebates" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TelevisedDebates</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://theconversation.com/in-an-election-that-played-out-on-social-media-as-much-as-tv-do-leaders-debates-still-matter-255771" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">theconversation.com/in-an-elec</span><span class="invisible">tion-that-played-out-on-social-media-as-much-as-tv-do-leaders-debates-still-matter-255771</span></a></p><p>What caught my attention in this Conversation article was the ‘reach’ of the four television channel, and particularly that of SkyNews. Given all of the caveats the author explores in the piece these figures should be taken with a grain of salt and care exercised in the analysis. But, with these caveats and warning applicable to all the channels in the table equally, one can discern that SKyNews has had a very small reach compared to the others. This warms my heart because it points to the eventual demise of the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Murdoch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Murdoch</span></a> media empire and its diminishing influence in Australian politics.</p>
