I can follow your thoughts, but could this also be the case:
- Trump once had a thought about tariffs (which he does not understand)
- he NEVER changes his mind, because that would mean defeat (remember #RoyCohn )
- some other people see him as a useful idiot because of this
- they buy the presidency and wait for everything coming their way

Just a thought.

The thing that gets me about the "I didn't vote in 2024 because Kamala was imperfect" crowd is that they assumed that the rest of us were voting for her (even more, we were trying to vote for Congressional representatives and other officer holders that would try to chip away at everything that's been going wrong since at least Nixon). And, maybe some were truly voting for Kamala in hopes she'd be more than just "not #Trump". But a significant percentage of us were simply voting for the hopes that we'd simply have the option to vote again in 2026 and 2028. We were voting in 2024 in the hopes that we'd have the opportunity to try to start righting the ship.

Now, though, thanks in large part to the "I won't vote at all" crowd, that's gone. The ship is still heading for the rocks, but now it's at full throttle and its billionaire-cabal "course correction" was to steer it at the most devastating part of the rocks. So, "congratulations, guys".

Looks like the woossou... emergency measures have plateaued it for now.
Also some of the re-investment promises just to keep the lights on could be helping, and may even drive it up again briefly.

But with the impact of all the closures so far, and the massive agriculture debt that's coming, it will probably continue to drop soon.
