Urban SDK<p>Building Smart Cities with Geospatial AI<br>Geospatial AI is at the heart of building smart, sustainable cities. By integrating AI with location-based data, cities can optimize traffic, manage resources efficiently, and improve the overall quality of life. From reducing energy consumption to enhancing safety, Geospatial AI is the key to a brighter urban future. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GeospatialAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GeospatialAI</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SmartCities" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SmartCities</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/UrbanTech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UrbanTech</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Sustainability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sustainability</span></a><br><a href="https://www.urbansdk.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">urbansdk.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>

Jack<p>In a <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/networkscience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>networkscience</span></a> class this semester specifically focused on urban contexts... only our second week in and we are discussing closeness/betweeness centrality, edge betweeness, and how all of this relates to transportation networks. Very broad, tough to grasp concepts for a beginner like me, but a real world example of edge weight regarding roads before and after floods made it all click for me. Can't wait for more!</p><p><a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/urbantechnology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>urbantechnology</span></a> <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/urbantech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>urbantech</span></a> <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/transportation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>transportation</span></a> <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/UrbanPlanning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UrbanPlanning</span></a></p>
Jack<p>An aspect of <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/UrbanTech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UrbanTech</span></a> that I am interested in exploring is how to utilize modern <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/data" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>data</span></a> /#geospatial analysis, <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/transportation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>transportation</span></a> tech and communication methods to improve <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/wildfire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wildfire</span></a> evacuations. </p><p>I hate the "evacuation routes" NIMBY talking point, how can we use tech to better utilize existing physical infrastructure?<br>Here is an example of physical infra crumbling when it is most needed... Ruidoso, NM sandwiched between two fires with only one way to get out.</p><p>Original post: <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/@ai6yr" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ai6yr</span></a></span></p>

Jack<p>Just finished "A City Is Not a Computer: Other Urban Intelligences" by Shannon Mattern ( <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://saturation.social/@shannonmattern" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>shannonmattern</span></a></span> ) and WOW, it was fantastic. </p><p>A must read for any urbanist in the 21st century. The entire book is so engaging and current, but my favorite section was "3. Public Knowledge", which poses questions/ideas about public data, the role of libraries in the 2020's, and more. The pages are now FILLED with notes and annotations, I see myself referencing this constantly in the future. </p><p><a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/UrbanTech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UrbanTech</span></a></p>
