Jan Beta<p>New video! The pump in my ZD-915 desoldering station stopped working! Let's investigate and try to fix it!</p><p>YouTube: <a href="https://youtu.be/QP5PTcFVfT4" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/QP5PTcFVfT4</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br>PeerTube: <a href="https://makertube.net/w/g2iCf6nb8ZMmDwwf14FC6U" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">makertube.net/w/g2iCf6nb8ZMmDw</span><span class="invisible">wf14FC6U</span></a></p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/ZD915" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ZD915</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/DesolderingStation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DesolderingStation</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/VacuumPump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VacuumPump</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Repair</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Mechanics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mechanics</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Pump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Pump</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Desoldering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Desoldering</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/SolderSucker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SolderSucker</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Moo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Moo</span></a></p>
Charring Auh<p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Vacuumpump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Vacuumpump</span></a> 1876 <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/museumscienceindustry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>museumscienceindustry</span></a> @msichicago Heinrich Geissler invented the mercury displacement pump in 1855[10] and achieved a record vacuum of about 10 Pa (0.1 Torr). A number of electrical properties become observable at this vacuum level, and this renewed interest in vacuum. This, in turn, led to the development of the vacuum tube.[11] The Sprengel pump was a widely used vacuum producer of this time.[10]</p>
Kelvin n0mql EN35ld<p>So I finally bought a <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/HeatPump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HeatPump</span></a> for the back yard shed. It’s a little one - the space is pretty small. I wanted to do this years ago, but the industry dragged its damned feet catching up with the science.</p><p>Intent is to DIY it. But the instructions say I need some tools I don’t have. <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/ManifoldGauge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ManifoldGauge</span></a> set &amp; <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/VacuumPump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VacuumPump</span></a></p><p>Maybe I’ll DIY all but the final steps, then hire that last bit.</p><p>Or maybe the cheapest <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/HarborFreight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HarborFreight</span></a> set will be cheaper than the labor cost.</p><p>What did you do on yours, Fedi-folk?</p>
Al<p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/skoolie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>skoolie</span></a> issue; hard braking after many little brake presses.<br>and funny noise coming from the <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/vacuumPump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vacuumPump</span></a>.<br>I had no problem diagnosing the problem. fig 1 shows the problem, a spring coming out of the top of the pump. After releasing the tension on the belt, unbolting the pump I was able to pull off the pulley.<br>My issue is that I saw a little rust on the shaft and corresponding rust on the pulley.</p><p>Do I need to worry about this?<br>Is there any tricks to getting the pulley back on the new pump?</p>
