They immediately set their car and home battery to sell power back to the grid. In two hours, they sold 28 kilowatt hours of power to the grid and made more than $560. As they told us: “I look forward to more such events.”‘…to date, there’s no consensus showing V2G shortens the battery life of EVs significantly. One recent study shows it increases degradation by 0.3% a year. But another showed V2G might actually extend battery life in some scenarios…‘We found battery warranty was a bigger concern than battery life. The Chaotic Good 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🖖And.. after three hours of using my truck to power the house, it's now time to charge the truck back up from mains - and also to charge my colleague's EV. I think we might be pulling a lot of power from the grid. Side note: As <a href="https://mas.to/@TechConnectify" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@TechConnectify</a> showcased when doing a weekend "power the home" experiment, EV battery packs are MASSIVE and can run a 'normal' home for days without an issue. My home is not a normal home, because we have a sever room that runs while I'm at work, and we also have a fairly large house (and it was cold last night). We rely on electricity for all our heating and power. To give you an idea of how much more power we use, our sever room in a single day can consume about 40 kWh of power alone. So yeah, we consume more than normal people do.My Truck's battery went from 95% to about 75% in three hours, but that was with literally everything powered on that we'd normally use for an average morning. It relies heavily on a quote from the ACEA who are well known for dragging their feet on <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Climate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Climate</a> goals. The green MEP quoted had it right - grid investments are already underway. And far from making the grid unstable, with the advent of <a href="https://mas.to/tags/VehicleToGrid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#VehicleToGrid</a> technology, <a href="https://mas.to/tags/EVs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#EVs</a> are part of the solution to smoothing out demand.
