Vermonters arrived at the Statehouse in Montpelier with signs, flags and chants, despite the blustery 13-degree weather. [it was a balmy 24 degrees here in Maine.]</p><p>"The themes of attendees’ signs ranged from objections to <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/ElonMusk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ElonMusk</span></a>’s involvement in the administration to supporting <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/LGBTQ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LGBTQ</span></a>+ rights, <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/AbortionRights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AbortionRights</span></a> and the <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Palestinian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Palestinian</span></a> cause. If any thread unified the protesters, it was the desire to push back against what they said was Trump’s anti-democratic approach to his presidential power and harm to <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/marginalized" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marginalized</span></a> people.</p><p>"Several state legislators attended the protest, joining in on chants and speaking to folks in the crowd. Among them were Rep. Mari Cordes, D-Lincoln; Rep. Saudia LaMont, D-Morristown; and Rep. Jubilee McGill, D-Bridport, who told VTDigger the Trump administration had been front-of-mind for them, not only as individuals but also as representatives of a small state likely to be heavily affected by Trump policies such as his proposed tariffs."</p><p>Source:<br><a href="https://vtdigger.org/2025/02/05/vermonters-join-national-movement-to-protest-trump-administration-policies/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">vtdigger.org/2025/02/05/vermon</span><span class="invisible">ters-join-national-movement-to-protest-trump-administration-policies/</span></a><br><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/50501Movement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>50501Movement</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/50501Protests" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>50501Protests</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/ResistFascism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ResistFascism</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Resist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Resist</span></a></p>

Annie from Canetoad<p>It's our last week of selling for Spring/Mother's Day brunch bags, and I hope we do well after a 3-year pandemic hiatus. Such a good fundraiser. </p><p>Local products from local food makers, all assembled into cute bags and delivered door to door on Mother's Day morning by an army of volunteers, usually with their cute kiddos ringing the doorbells and handing over the bags. </p><p>Some people buy them for the moms in their lives, some buy for other loved ones, and even some buy bags to be donated to our local aid organizations--various shelters and also a lodge that houses out-of-town folks receiving cancer care. The donated bags are usually purchased in honor of someone who lives out of town or out of state; they get a nice post card saying a bag was donated in their honor. </p><p>It's one of the most fun and heartwarming things I get to do all year; I'm so glad we're back to doing it. <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/burlingtonvt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>burlingtonvt</span></a> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/vermont" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vermont</span></a> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/vermonters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vermonters</span></a> <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/btv" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>btv</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.theschoolhousevt.org/brunch-bags" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">theschoolhousevt.org/brunch-ba</span><span class="invisible">gs</span></a></p>
