adingbatponder<p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/startpage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>startpage</span></a> blocks me because I am on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/expressvpn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>expressvpn</span></a> ( I am using their <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/aircove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aircove</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/vpnrouter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vpnrouter</span></a> for the house which is great). This sort of nonsense is the reason we need proper networks and not this. How can an automated checker block a normal family use of a search website ? We need other things. They even asked me for my email address (voluntary field) ... this is potty. I like startpage but did not realise this would happen.</p>
adingbatponder<p>Only way I could get a wired <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/LAN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LAN</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/printer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printer</span></a> to work &amp; use a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/vpn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vpn</span></a> reliably is to use an <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/expressVPN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>expressVPN</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/aircove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aircove</span></a> router. I put the printer outside the vpn in its own so-called "group". That way VPN not off when printing. Before, when the home router was not a VPN router, one had to disconnect from one's VPN app (<a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/protonVPN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protonVPN</span></a>) before printing and so the VPN was off when printing and then often stayed off if one forgot to reconnect. <br>Is there a simple way to LAN print without a VPN router &amp; stay in VPN?</p>
adingbatponder<p>Now I have the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/aircove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aircove</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/expressvpn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>expressvpn</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/router" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>router</span></a> I post the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/instructions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>instructions</span></a> in case it helps someone else</p>

Are there good alternatives that can be made work by mere mortals?</p>
adingbatponder<p>Is it possible to set up an <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/aircove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aircove</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/vpnrouter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vpnrouter</span></a> as an access point rather than have it plug directly into a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/fiber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fiber</span></a> or <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/cableinternet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cableinternet</span></a> WAN <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/network" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>network</span></a>, and still have it perform is function ? Does it mean<br>(a) WAN - Service Provider Router - VPN Router - your devices or <br>(b) WAN - VPN Router - Service Provider Router - Your devices.... <br>(a) or (b) ?</p>
