Kurt N9KWKI've seen a lot of <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ARRL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ARRL</a> criticism in my short time in the hobby, plenty of it seemingly deserved, but I recently joined and just yesterday started poking around the technical article archive, and I gotta say, what I'm seeing so far definitely seems like I'll be getting my money's worth.

W6KMEIt's official now, I guess...I just received confirmation from the ARRL that my nomination petition was received and I was accepted as a candidate for Santa Barbara Section Manager. I have no desire or intention to get involved in the politics going on back East. I just want to keep trying to get people on the air more, and the Section Manager position is a good pulpit for the task. The Conejo Valley Amateur Radio Club (CVARC) this weekend held its annual Field Day event to demonstrate continued communications, even during emergencies. Radio communications help make us all more resilient during emergencies such as earthquakes and wildfires.2. CVARC members used analog, Morse Code (CW), and digital radio setups to establish communications with other radio operators around the world, and even bounced signals off a dedicated amateur radio satellite.3. Morse code knowledge is no longer required for a license, but it’s a useful skill to have. Morse Code (CW) is bandwidth-efficient and works well over long distances even at low power.4.
