BLK News Now!
"As Black women we have the right and responsibility to define ourselves and to seek our allies in common cause: with Black men against racism, and with each other and white women against sexism. But most of all, as Black women we have the right and responsibility to recognize each other without fear and to love where we choose." ― #AudreLorde #BlackHistory

In order to withstand the weather, we had to become stone, and now we bruise ourselves upon the other who is closest”, Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches, 1984).

#SaraAhmed #AudreLorde

Le texte anglais ci-dessous
===>>>>

Gersande La Flèche
I think about this passage all the time.

“To use the Lordeian formulation, the effort to rebuild the master’s house so that it can accommodate those for whom it was not intended cannot be understood purely as a reformist project. It is, potentially, revolutionary. Much of the work of revolution comes from what you learn by trying to build more just worlds alongside other people. It’s the sociability of complaint that leads it in a direction similar to a protest. You find your co-complainers, the people who get it, who have been there, your comrades. Some people cannot survive these institutions. Some people do not survive them. It is a fundamentally life-affirming task to build institutions that are not dependent on the diminishment of the life-capacities of others.”

Sara Ahmed, on Complaint! in the Paris Review (2022): https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2022/01/14/you-pose-a-problem-a-conversation-with-sara-ahmed/

#philosophy #feminism #diversity #audrelorde #saraahmed
