INNER MONSTERS
Inner Monsters don't necessarily look like "real" monsters. They are part of that constant chatter going on in the background of our own minds, shaping our view of the world. They can appear in a variety of forms, from human, animal, monster-like, even as plants! Most of us... ahem... keep our inner beasties tucked "safely" in the closet, hoping they won't decide to reveal themselves at inopportune times, causing all manner of embarrassing moments, like sudden extreme shyness, unexplained crying jags, overwhelming crankiness, or laughing out loud for no apparent reason, among others. Sound familiar?
The solution is (drum roll please...) to MEET your inner monsters, SEEK to understand them, EMBRACE them as yours, and then LEARN about yourself through them. Bring them out of your personal inner-verse and set them free!

Gorgeous Monsters & Their Pets
Welcome to my new interview series. I am the official human spokesperson for the Guardian Monster Guild, editor of the "Monster Times & Review" and author of the glamorous tell-all book, "What Monsters Want". These are hard-won credentials that I have worked tirelessly to obtain. As an ordinary human being, entering the realm of Monsterdom requires a rigorous determination, and an ego that can survive all manner of taunts, threats and indignation. I have endured countless nips, pokes and licks from numerous monsters whose intent, it seems, was to provoke me into giving up. I have proved them wrong! NOTE: This latest set of interviews on monster pets is for human eyes only and includes interviews with a select group from the Gorgeous Monsters Society. (This is the name they give themselves.) Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip or two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.

These Guardian Monsters are called Lorcan & Lunn Blitherish.

PERSONALITY: The word “eager” best describes this dynamic duo. Working as a team, they leap into action, racing one another to do your bidding. They love the physical and mental challenge of locating your missing stuff. It doesn’t matter if you want them to find a misplaced toothbrush or a long-lost diamond ring; both are seen as great adventures. Boundless energy and enthusiasm, plus a ferocious need to acquire things, keep them on their toes and ready to assist at a moments notice.

POTENTIAL ISSUES: They can be rather possessive of the items they retrieve. Sometimes they simply do not want to turn over the “spoils” that they have uncovered. Luckily there is an easy fix. Give them something for their efforts besides a thank you. Anything. Give them a toasted peanut for the favorite lost earring they have found. Or a marble for the stolen wallet they have recovered. Getting “paid” with stuff for doing a job they love placates their avaricious nature.

RULES OF ETIQUETTE: These guys come from a long line of monsters called “little fierce ones.” It is their heritage and in their very blood to be warlike. Generations of Blitherish offspring have begun battles with neighboring tribes who were accused of stealing their cherished family treasures. Most likely they were right, because most of the time, that is exactly what they did – steal from each other. In fact, so many back and forth “exchanges” have taken place over the generations, that they no longer know who originally owned what. Silly, isn’t it? Anyway, today they offer their skills for sale. And, not a moment too soon. As long as they are gainfully employed, peace has a chance to last more than a day or two. Please do your part.

Still deep within a dense twilight forest, several monsters gather together. Their facial expressions show fear and worry. One large monster dramatically shares his anxiety with a little blue monster, while another has its arm around its back.
