While pruning currants, I came across this little bulb. Using a strand of hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium), I re-hung it. Cute don`t you think!?

The currants exploded this year, but there was some trouble early with fruit flies. A thorough application of insecticidal soap spray (Dr. Bronner's and water) seems to have quickly solved that.

The garden be poppin'

aronia, bees on milkweed, various currants and a gooseberry.

Some of the tops of the Clove currant Ribes odoratum cuttings are swelling. Just the bigger ones which didn't have any grown out leaves.

I've never actually done cuttings of these before by not just sticking them in a hole poked in the ground so this observation is new. Hopefully the other end in the soil is doing the same thing.

Clove currants. Very fragrant and they look great too.
