I went to a community-building dinner for the local dairy sector last night. The first two people I ran into were the trainer and coordinator from the RTO who ran the course that brought me in to farm work nearly 2 years ago and who have essentially taken over from TAFE NSW in teaching Agriculture and Dairy Production courses all down the NSW south coast and as far west as the Riverina.

The conversation kind of went:

Them: Are you still enjoying dairy and farm work?
Me: Yes, I really do.
T: We keep talking about you. We think you'd make a great trainer for us on our Ag and Dairy Cert II-IV courses. Would you like a job and do you like teaching?
M: I *do* like teaching, but I'm not qualified.
T: Get your Cert IV in Training and Assessment and we'll hire you!
M: Let me look into that.

A part-funded Cert IV will cost me $1850. Now, who's going to pay for that for me? Anyone?

(Aside: I'm going to raise it with the farm. Because supporting me to do this would help them with a pipeline of potential new staff.)

In #dairy industry where male calves are killed as theyre "the wrong breed for meat" and dont produce milk. Cows are forcibly impregnated by fisting their anus; calves separated within cpl days minimizing milk "wasted" on calf. @ abt 4y of 25y lifespan all are killed bc milk production declines, abt 1/2 of all cow flesh in uk comes from dairy.
Pls show mercy dont fund barbaric industries go #vegan asap youtube.com/watch?v=al_-pmCqpW
