J. Steven York RESISTS<p>Before junk electronics from China gets Trumpflated, on impulse I ordered an endoscope that just arrived. I have no major reason to own this other that we were speculating what was behind a plaster wall in our 1942 house. But it's just a thing that looks fun, and it was still $50. I've already looked inside a couple teapot spouts, looked behind some old paneling, watched a row of flashing LEDs peeking through a tiny cooling hole on my cable modem.<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/science" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>science</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/endoscope" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>endoscope</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/toys" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>toys</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/lego" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lego</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maker</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tools" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tools</span></a></p>

Tomorrow he has another appointment to get is <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/DentalImplant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DentalImplant</span></a> put in.</p><p>We hope the boiler gets replaced and we get hot water soon.</p>
jeffluszcz<p>Got a $20 endoscope to check out the telephone wires in the walls in my place and while it "works" it's like trying to push a 10 foot long piece of cooked spaghetti. I have a great understanding of the 1 foot area by the wall jack though. Was hoping to see if I could find a good path for Cat 6 but I think I'm going to need to just use the old telephone wires as the cable pull and hope for the best.... <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homelab</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/endoscope" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>endoscope</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/yolo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>yolo</span></a></p>
Michael Porter<p>Hey Mastodonians! In the past two or three years, I have encountered situations where it would be *really* nice to stick a camera into an enclosed space (in my case they are: a mysterious void space in my friend’s house that we want to potentially open up and turn into storage space, and a couple of spaces between walls or in duct work). </p><p>I looked at a *bunch* of borescope cameras on Amazon, but they all seem to have a maximum focal range of about 4 inches. They also come with long cables, so I know I can get closer, but I’m more interested in sticking a camera in a hole and seeing what the space looks like - I *think* that means I want something that can focus farther away.</p><p>So, some questions if you have any experience with this kind of thing. Am I wrong about the range? Am I looking at the wrong kind of camera? Should I be looking at “spy” cameras or the like? What do professionals actually use in these cases? Or do they just use the borescopes and tolerate out-of-focus images?</p><p><a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/Construction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Construction</span></a> <a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/Electrician" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Electrician</span></a> <a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/Imaging" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Imaging</span></a> <a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/Borescope" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Borescope</span></a> <a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/Endoscope" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Endoscope</span></a> <a href="https://ottawa.place/tags/SpyCam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpyCam</span></a></p>
