SynAck aka Little Sunshine
Good remote #karate class tonight. Did some warm-ups from Muy Thai, did a couple of groundwork techniques a la BJJ but adapted to the principles of our system, did some striking drills and combos from the #Naihanchi #kata on striking bags, and finished up the night by going through the #Naihanchi #kata again to see where our "bunkai" had come from.

One nice thing about having all the dojo equipment at my house is that I have access to all the striking pads, weapons, bean bags, etc. that we use and I don't have to make my own with household items. A rolled up floor mat with an old sparring vest that someone donated to us makes for a good makeshift striking bag, although it won't stay in place so I have to hold it. At least it allows me to hit and kick something corporeal, though.

Actually, I think all I might need to do is build some sort of heavy base for it and put a big ol' PVC pipe or something in the center that I can slide the mat down on to keep it in place.

Might save me the $300-$600 I'd have to spend on a free-standing heavy bag or something from Century. :thinkaboutit:
