What looked like 2 people walking side-by-side on the beach this morning may have been only 1 person. When I edited out the “noise” the second person faded away. Made me ponder how nice it would be to have a loved one who’s passed on before us, walking by our side, keeping silent watch over us. #beach #musings

I try to live my life very zen and to always try to offer love, light, and happiness to the world and to people around me.

But it is hard, darn hard, when driving, particularly for me in central and northern Colorado. On nearly every trip, I experience many people who assert what I can only assume they think is their g*d given right to travel & camp in any traffic lane and at the speed *they* think *we* should be accustomed to (usually 5-25 miles per hour under the speed limit). (This is also a nod to the movie First Wives Club). This is despite the posted speed limit, frequent signage along the roads saying for slow drivers to keep right, and a posted state law that you must keep right except to pass.

It's bad enough when it is a private citizen. But it's quite another for commercial drivers including semi trucks. These are professional drivers here!

I get, and celebrate, personal choice. But listen, there is a ripple effect here, and choices like the above can adversely affect road capacity and even invoke road rage for miles or even city-wide!

I'm so glad I won't be driving much longer. Bring on the zen!!! 🎉

PS This just happened repeatedly on today's trip. I coped by scripting this post in my head, refining it as I went until I could get home and share with my dear Fediversians.

Am I a grumpy old man yelling at clouds? 😉

100% life

No matter how seriously sick one may be, for example, one’s life is still 100% life. Even if we are dying, our life is still 100% life. Even if we are in prison, our life is still 100% life. There is no such thing as a 50% life or a 70% life. Each moment is all of our life.

Shohaku Okamura – Living by Vow

It’s easy to move through this world thinking I will start to live my life when I achieve some goals. Trust me, I know. However, living in the moment is highly under-rated. It’s a simple but very hard concept. It’s the one thing I want to improve in 2025. Being alive is 100% life, why keep everything to a day that might not happen, gaining hype through all that time to an outcome that may never live up to the way it’s in your head?

Why put off life?

Am I alone in being confused when a doctor's office says you must cancel 24 business hours before an appt to avoid a fee?

I think they mean that, if the appt is at 8am Tuesday, you have to cancel by 8am Monday. But if you assume that a business is open 8 hours a day, and you read it literally, then they are actually saying you have to cancel 3 days in advance. 🤷‍♀️

I reckon one night while we were all asleep a black hole came along & sucked the Sol System into the Bizzaro Universe where AlternativeFacts rule, it's the only thing that makes sense with everything that's happening in the world & explains why the complete opposite of Common Sense is gaining such traction in the world, 'Planet dying? Dismantle EPA!', 'Israel attacked another country? Attack the victims!', 'People dying and need Aid? Dismantle Aid & pocket the cash!'..

Week Notes: mid-June, 2025

Here in Hastings the summer is starting to manifest itself in the form of warmer and sunnier days and, consequently, the number of tourists is starting to rise. That’s good for all the local small traders,…
