rdm<p>So I'm attending a tech conference in Munich this week - virtually. This means I am keeping CEST, and that lunchtime is 6pm local. </p><p>So at lunchtime, I set up my <a href="https://aus.social/tags/dwarf3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dwarf3</span></a> on the back roof, and let it run for the 'afternoon'. </p><p>My target was Messier 6 aka NGC6405 aka "The Butterfly Cluster". DüttNGC 6791 ist ein lichtschwacher aber sternreicher Offener Haufen in der Leier. Die Entfernung von 6791 wird auf 13000 bis 17000 Lichtjahre geschätzt, das Alter auf etwa 8 Mrd. Jahre. Damit ist er einer der ältesten Sternhaufen in unserer Galaxis und seine Sterne sollten metallarm sein- was sie aber nicht sind. Aus diesem Grund gehört NGC 6791 zu den am häufigsten untersuchten Sternhaufen. NGC 6791 wurde im Dezember 1853 von dem deutschen Astronomen Friedrich August Theodor Winnecke entdeckt.<br>

It was discovered by Scottish astronomer <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/JamesDunlop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JamesDunlop</span></a> on September 24, 1826. This is a young, massive cluster with an age of about 20 million years and 23,000 times the mass of the Sun. It has a <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/coreRadius" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>coreRadius</span></a> of 2.85 ± 0.46 pc (9.3 ± 1.5 ly). Mollenberg ObservatoryThe Pleiades (AKA Seven Sisters, Messier 45, M45) is an open star cluster with considerable nebulosity (Maia and Merope Nebulae are both located within the cluster). Located in the constellation of Taurus, it is one of the brighter night sky objects (mag. 1.6) and easily visible with the naked eye. The Pleiades holds a place in the stellar folklore of most cultures, some may recognize the constellation as the logo of the Japanese automotive brand Subaru (スバル), its namesake. <br>
<br>
At approximately 444 light years distant, it is one of the nearest star clusters to Earth, and the nearest messier object. Easily visible with the naked eye, it has an angular size of 110 minutes, or nearly two degrees of arc. At magnitude 1.6.<br>
<br>
The cluster is dominated by hot blue and luminous b-type stars that have formed within the last 100 million years. Astronomers estimate that the cluster will survive for about another 250 million years, after which it will disperse due to gravitational interactions with its galactic neighborhood. <br>
