@DDKFM Habe ich hier auch, im Wesentlichen für Mails aus dem #PredatoryPublishing-Umfeld. Leider muss ich den Filter alle paar Wochen erweitern, weil immer mehr von dem Müll mit immer kreativeren Betreffs und Inhalten reinkommt.

It sucks that posting a paper on #SSRN (or probably any widely used #preprint platform) results in semi-regular spam emails from predatory publishers offering to publish it in their (often thematically inappropriate) predatory journals.
Of course, most people probably send them to spam, but I imagine they're using the scattershot technique where they just need to catch a few people unaware of their practices who desperately need publications.
Our Quality Team is central to maintaining levels of trust in our service. Team members conduct in-depth investigations into cases of concern. In 2024 alone, they dedicated more than 830 hours to over 470 investigations.

European Science EditingStinging predatory journals: a brief overview and recommendationsPredatory journals exploit the open access model for profit, often publishing papers with minimal or nonexistent peer review. Predatory publishing stings can identify predatory publishers and increase awareness of the problem, but there are no guidelines for effective stings. We propose that stings should include peer review red flags that would stop the sting from being accepted by reputable journals, be followed by a public sting statement to alert others to the predatory journal identified and predatory publishing in general, and avoid both payment to predatory publishers and risk to the stinger.

On a related note, has anybody ever reviewed for #OpenResearchEurope? This is my first time hearing from them, apparently it's something set up by the #EuropeanCommission and seems rather cool. However, the invitation letter left a very #PredatoryPublishing vibe through its choice of words, formatting, and typos.
BUT the paper they want me to review is fascinating and related to my expertise, so I am very tempted.
Wow—I've never seen such a brazen offer in predatory journal #spam! (Though something tells me that if I submitted a paper that was 100% plagiarized, they'd happily publish it anyway as long as I paid the APC.) #predatorypublishing
