#Trump’s latest enterprise is being developed by #Dubai real estate company #DarGlobal & will be the first Trump International Hotel in the #MiddleEast.

…The advertised “golden visa” does not specify which country it is for, but in Feb Trump announced the concept of selling a "#GoldCard" #visa for $5M potentially offering #wealthy buyers residency in the #US & granting them a pathway to #citizenship.

While #Trump’s many merchandising opportunities have been difficult to keep up with, this endeavor was arguably the most outrageous—partly because of the rather obvious #ConflictOfInterest related to the #SEC & partly because of the brazenness of Trump’s #profiteering.

The CLC’s Adav Noti explained, “It is literally cashing in on the presidency—creating a financial instrument so people can transfer money to the president’s family in connection with his office. It is beyond unprecedented.”

“If there’s one thing we learned from the pandemic supply-chain shocks, it’s that corporate CEOs never let an emergency go to waste. Bosses, knowing that you’d been warned to expect higher prices, went ahead and jacked up their prices way over inflation, blaming it on covid, on stimulus checks, on Biden, on the phase of the moon. Blaming it on anything — except greed. That’s why we called it “excuseflation””

As #EggPrices soared, so did producer #profits

A #USDA program doled out hundreds of millions in relief payments to big egg companies, even as the largest earned record profits.

The #AvianInfluenza outbreak has had far-reaching consequences: >120M hens have been slaughtered & #egg #prices have risen to record levels. In his address to Congress, #Trump called the situation “out of control.”

Yet for some #corporate companies, these are good times.

Trump's hardly the first US politician to profit from his office, nor is this behaviour confined to the right; plenty of supposedly left of centre officials and legislators have turned their public office to private benefit.

What is new and disturbingly different is the sheer scale and shamelessness of the profiteering, self-dealing, and corruption here. What's worse, Trump and his sycophants promote these actions as "smart" and "patriotic".

why is this #weeny crying? will his kids go to war? (unlikely because he is part of the #rich elite, only the #poor will DIE for even more #profit!) let me tell you this: after #ww2 and the EXCELLENT #Marshallplan of course #EU and #USA were friends, because #USA effectively helped #Europe recover from the #destruction (not without profiting) so #Europe has ALWAYS been a #Theater for #Americans to play in, play #war, play #influence. Whoever thinks this will change overnight is gravely mistaken, #Europe DOES NOT EVEL BUILD A SINGLE SMART PHONE X-D #Europe is COMPLETELY dependant on #US and #China #infotec companies (so much for "#independence"?) a #EU #Army will not solve that problem X-D
the #US #colony called #Europe is about to get thrown into the same #war and #profiteering #abyss as #Ukraine #wtf? just for #rich #asholes to get #richer that's all (read #ww1 #veteran #SmedleyButtler #warisaracket) #msc2025

Journalist Nora Loreto sounds the alarm on the possibility of #Canadian capitalists using the Trump tariffs as an excuse to jack up prices and profiteer as they did during the pandemic.

We are going to need action against tariff profiteering by corporations.

Nora Loreto · Ok, but what about profiteering?By Nora Loreto

Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and 13 colleagues wrote to the CEO of the supermarket behemoth #Kroger in November about electronic price tags (often called #electronic #shelf #labels or #ESLs ).
These digital displays allow companies to change prices automatically from a mobile app.
Tlaib warned that this so-called “#dynamic #pricing” permits retailers to adjust prices based on their whims.
Just as #Uber raises prices during storms or rush hour, retailers like Kroger use ESLs to adjust prices based on factors like time of day or the weather.
Supermarkets could conceivably mine a shopper’s personal data to set prices as high as possible.
“My concern is that these tools will be abused in the pursuit of profit, surging prices on essential goods in areas with fewer and fewer grocery stores,” Tlaib wrote.
In August, Senators Elizabeth #Warren and Bob #Casey wrote to Kroger raising similar concerns about #price #gouging.
Noting that the company has already implemented the technology in hundreds of stores across the county, they warned that
“ESLs may help Kroger extract maximum profits from consumers at a time when…high grocery prices are a leading concern among Americans who are concerned about inflation.”
Warren and Casey also voiced concern about Kroger’s partnership with Microsoft to install #facial-#recognition technology in stores,
which could be used to identify individual customers:
When a shopper approaches the shelf, she would see a price calibrated specifically for her.
The next shopper might pay a different amount based on their profile.
Retailers could use shopper data to charge higher prices to those who can afford to pay more, but since stores do not have to disclose who is making pricing decisions or why,
the senators worry that shoppers on a budget are particularly vulnerable.
“It is outrageous that, as families continue to struggle to pay to put food on the table, grocery giants like Kroger continue to roll out #surge #pricing and other corporate #profiteering schemes,” they wrote
