Michael DiLeo on GoToSocial<p>Another week of progress in getting set up with the <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fediverse</span></a>! It's been a hell of a journey getting set up and some of my aspirations, like having all apps be able to be connected with external <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/sso" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SSO</span></a>, won't happen (<a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/pixelfed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pixelfed</span></a> doesn't support it).</p><p>They still need more work and setup, but I'm also running <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/writefreely" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>writefreely</span></a> and <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/picsur" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>picsur</span></a>. I have <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/cloudflare" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cloudflare</span></a> caching images and resources and responsiveness is looking pretty good despite the server being located in the EU and I'm in the US.</p><p>I've mis-mounted storage, done a ton of wipes, nearly got my federated local domains wrong. So many minor things. I still need to get actual admin stuff like captcha and sign in set up, but the infrastructure is there.</p><p>One of the things I'd like to do as well is to make a landing website with details on services provided, how to sign up, etc. It'd also be cool to get someone to do some iconography and make a mascot before it goes live.</p><p>Pending services:</p><ul><li>piefed</li><li><a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/bookwyrm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookwyrm</span></a></li><li>maybe <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/matrix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Matrix</span></a>. I've been using it on my own for a while, but even when switching from the main server to another implementation, I'm not sure it's ready.</li><li>a wiki</li></ul><p>But so far, we have a 2 node <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/kubernetes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kubernetes</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/cluster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cluster</span></a> with backups, replication & fault tolerance, caching, etc.</p><p>I've learned so much from doing this. Is is stuff I could repeat? dunno.</p><p><a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mastodon</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/pixelfed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pixelfed</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/piefed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>piefed</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/install" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>install</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/selfhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosting</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/kuberenetes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kuberenetes</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/talos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>talos</span></a> <a href="https://gotosocial.michaeldileo.org/tags/learning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>learning</span></a></p>
