ArchaeoWeaver<p>The wool has been sitting in the colouring broth the whole day. I finally took it out, rinsed it and hung it out to dry. I am pretty pleased with the colour. Most probably it will lighten a bit when dry, but it is an even and luscius yellow.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dyeingwithplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeingwithplants</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/plantdyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plantdyeing</span></a></p>
Jonobie<p>Also the previous photo shows my favorite <a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a> knife shuttle from <a href="https://www.handywomanshop.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">handywomanshop.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>. Her stuff is amazing. </p><p>Like, look at this - I don't even do this type of weaving and I want this heddle: <a href="https://www.handywomanshop.com/product-page/engraved-and-painted-backstrap-heddle" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">handywomanshop.com/product-pag</span><span class="invisible">e/engraved-and-painted-backstrap-heddle</span></a></p>
Jonobie<p>Finally have my longer loom re-warped: A strap for a basket I made at the John C Campbell school last year. I tried it earlier but somehow zoned out while warping and wrapped the warp around the wrong pegs. It was too hard to fix so I just tossed it. </p><p>This one is slightly less silvery on the white section and I don’t like it quiiiiite as much. But it will do and uses up some brownish white thread that I don’t want in my stash. </p><p>I do keep obsessively checking the warp tho! <a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a></p>
ArchaeoWeaver<p>I am sieving the onion skins into an old laundry net, put the broth back in the pot and in goes the wool. To keep the wool covered I put the laundry net with the skins in top. Now it has to heat up slowly to about 70 degree Celsius and kept there for about an hour or two.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dyeingwithplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeingwithplants</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/plantdyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plantdyeing</span></a></p>
cyber<p>Worked through some more lessons in Wollny's 3/1 Twill book. Most of the motifs on here were exercises that were mostly charted, but the top two I had to chart the turns completely by myself! I did pretty good! I even corrected a little "shimmer" that I made the first time by accident. <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/weaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>weaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/wollny" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wollny</span></a></p>
ArchaeoWeaver<p>Both onion skin broth and mordanting bath with the wool have cooled down to room temperature. I will let the wool soak overnight in the mordanting solution as well as the onion skins in their broth. It has a very intense brownish colour. Tomorrow I will sieve the broth and put the wool in. I am very excited about the colour result.<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dyeingwithplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeingwithplants</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/plantdyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plantdyeing</span></a></p>
ArchaeoWeaver<p>Simmering, simmering onion skin soup🍲.<br>Give me all your sweet, sweet pigments.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dyeingwithplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeingwithplants</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/plantdyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plantdyeing</span></a></p>
ArchaeoWeaver<p>While the wool is in its mordanting bath at about 70 degree Celsius, the onion skins are cooking nicely.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dyeingwithplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeingwithplants</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/plantdyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plantdyeing</span></a></p>
ArchaeoWeaver<p>Wohoo, it's dye day. Normally I buy my wool for weaving, but I got a good amount of onion skins from my local organic grocery store, which are great for dying (I hope). First I prepare the onion skins for extracting the pigments and the wool for mordanting with potash alum. <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/naturaldyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturaldyeing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dyeingwithplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dyeingwithplants</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/plantdyeing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plantdyeing</span></a></p>

Jonobie<p>I’m weaving on an airplane, which I’ve seen done by Lady Elweys, but involved an awkward angle to use the neighboring seat’s tray for a backstrap. This is the Inklette and is one of the few spots it excels. It could use a clamp to anchor it to the tray though. <a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a></p>
Henna / Smou Crafts<p>Custom work. <br>The symbol designed by the customer which I translated into a weaving pattern.<br>Love this comission and it taught me a lot!<br>This is also the widest belt I have ever weaved. More width in the world! 🤎💛</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tabletweaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tabletweaving</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/lautanauha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lautanauha</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/folkart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>folkart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/finnishhandicraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>finnishhandicraft</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/handmade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>handmade</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/custommade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>custommade</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tunicbelt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tunicbelt</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cottagecrafts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cottagecrafts</span></a></p>
Jonobie<p>Too late now. Hopefully there isn’t some stupid ass tariff on it as it comes from England. </p><p>But new <a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a> loom!!!!</p>
Jonobie<p>The Inklette works but it is a “only if I have to” sort of loom. It tips over easily, does not sit comfortably on my lap, needs the small cards, and is a royal PITA to advance the warp. I’ve learned I can loosen the tension peg, pull the warp forward, anchor it to the front peg with a finger, and then reach back and re-stretch the tension peg to move everything. But it’s awkward and I can’t imagine doing it with a wider warp. This is 10 cards of 10/2 yarn, boot shoelace width. <a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a></p>
Jonobie<p>Warping up the tiny Inklette with a narrow band (10 cards) to see how it works. My memory was it was hard to weave on, but I’m also a bit better weaver now than I was when I first tried it. <a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a></p>
Jonobie<p>Also if the answer is at least N+1 for my current set of looms, do I want a more explicit travel loom first or a warp-weighted loom first? Warp-weighted probably doesn't travel well, but lets me deal with twist easily and that probably lets me do some more complex patterns. But also, I like simple patterns too that I can travel with. Hmmmmmmmm. 🤔 </p><p><a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a> <a href="https://social.coop/tags/Weaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Weaving</span></a></p>
Jonobie<p>How many tablet weaving looms does a human need, realistically? [NOT] Asking for a friend. Does the answer change if there are currently 2 looms that have subsequently been decided to be useless, but I haven't gotten rid of them yet?</p><p><a href="https://social.coop/tags/TabletWeaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TabletWeaving</span></a> <a href="https://social.coop/tags/Weaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Weaving</span></a></p>
