IMO, #tagging is not that intuitive as it seems.
If you do follow my guide with 10 rules, you should get much more out of #tags as you do get otherwise:

My parents are artists and I was exposed to a lot of #Basquiat & #Haring from a young age, but — despite the popularity of #KeithHaring's work these days — I haven't sat in contemplation of it in a _long_ time. In looking into the history of the #CrownGraffiti imagery, I was reminded how prevalent the crown imagery was in #Basqiat's work, the early #NYC #Tagging scene, and how that has continued to inspire to this day. 3/n
@newmaker @lislegaard once wrote this nice introduction: https://www.kristofferlislegaard.com/blog/2025-01-25-how-to-get-started-on-mastodon-fediverse/
but there are more overviews flying around. Can't find a link that fast. #tagging #help helps, so now maybe some other peops have a #link for you if you are #new at #mastodon.
Tip of the day: Do you need to clear out empty tags that have piled up and are collecting dust? Here is an easy way to locate and remove them from any database in #DEVONthink. #pkm #productivity #tagging #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20250325-clean-up-tags-devonthink
why is it so hard to tag someone on your friends list and the same instance? #mastodon #technical #tagging #friends
Tip of the day: Many people use tags as a way to add some context to their documents. We have blogged on the subject more than once, but one option some people may not be aware of is nested (or hierarchical) tags. These are tags with child tags, or related tags within tags. Here’s how you can make and use them in #DEVONthink. #pkm #productivity #tagging #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20220809-nested-tags
I saw somebody on the fediverse asking for photo software whete you could set your own defined metadata search tags but the stream moved on before I could reply so no idea what platform they were on.
Certainly Shotwell does that on Linux based desktops but not sure if they needed something more akin to lightroom. #photo #PhotoStorage #software #OpenSource #taga #tagging #metadata
Tip of the day: Tags can be very effective for organizing your databases. But it is often tedious to assign them to each document by hand, isn’t it? That’s why #DEVONthink and #DEVONthinkToGo can dynamically add and remove tags to objects. Here are two options for dynamic tagging. #pkm #productivity #tagging #tipoftheday https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20241126-dynamic-tagging-devonthink
Planned to add file name descriptions and #tags to my recent photos while taking a train ride.
Unfortunately, tab-completion of my Python-based #tagging tool doesn't work at the moment and I have no idea why. This makes my tagging session an unpleasant one.
So I created a bug report for it: https://github.com/novoid/filetags/issues/74
The only thing that worries me is that it's my own tool, that has this bug and I don't know how to fix it.
Could be related to #readline, terminal emulator, pyreadline version, ...
