Darryl Pogue<p>Safari on iOS 26 is supposed to extend the colour from the page edges behind the liquid glass UI (no, not using the safe-area-inset system they previously invented specifically for that purpose, which my website is already set up to use).</p><p>It mostly doesn't work, and just extends the page background colour, not the edge colour.</p><p>Spent some time playing with CSS scroll animations to see if I could make it any better but the results were... maybe worse?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/iOS26" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iOS26</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LiquidGlass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LiquidGlass</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Safari" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Safari</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WebKit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebKit</span></a></p>

The web is more capable than ever and everything that doesn't run on the web eventually will. It's just that this last mile of UI parity doesn't really matter. Typing URLs into a text box is fine. The web doesn't need to pretend to be something else!</p>
