True to form, I feel pretty good sitting down and enjoying my #whiskey. But then I stand up and it’s like I can hear the Angels sighing. It hits hard and kinda all at once. Not an unwanted sensation. The best part about finding the whiskey that suits me is that I never have a hangover from it. On the contrary, I sleep really well and always feel great the day after. Vitamin J. Pretty much. Anyhow, the oven is preheating.

Picked these up from Julio's Liquors this week.

The Wyoming Whiskey 50th Anniversary Julio's Liquors bespoke 120.6 proof seven year old single barrel straight bourbon whiskey.

And the St. George Spirits NOLA Coffee Liqueur. I got to try this as a bonus after a recent Whiskey Wednesday, thanks to the rep having a bottle in their car and being willing to let us try it. In liked it so much I put in a special order for one, as did two others. I believe they got a case in, so there were three more available last I knew.

This is cold brewed Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee, French chicory root, Madagascar vanilla, and organic cane sugar. Very simple, very tasty. Just this over ice would be a good sipper.

A nice surprise from Compass Box Whisky arrived today, going out to members of The Blending Room.

A welcome box with a pin, tasting journal, pencil, and four lovely glass coasters.

And, since I'm posting CB swag, I was also recently gifted a set of four glass coasters with the Hedonism 2025 label art. Very nice and greatly appreciated. I won't thank the person by name as I don't want them hounded.

RYE-PA

½ oz lemon juice
½ oz orgeat
1½ oz rye whiskey
2 dashes Angostura bitters
3 oz New England IPA

Glassware: Double old-fashioned
Method: Combine lemon, orgeat, rye, and bitters in a shaker with ice and shake. Add the beer directly to the serving glass, then open pour the shaker into the glass. Garnish with mint.

An original by servedbysoberon on IG, but I've modified it to be more beer-forward by downplaying the sweet/sour a bit. The beer is called Frida, a #NEIPA by local brewer Braukollektiv in #Freiburg. Great summer smasher!
