So, I am starting off 2025 correctly.
A game I never finished as a child was Wonder Boy in Monster World for the #SegaGenesis. I played this game quite a lot, but the copy I played had a pretty much complete save file, so I never really experienced the adventure as a whole. I did challenge the final boss, but I could never beat them, and I can confirm that the final boss is pretty brutal!
Overall, the game is shorter than I expected, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, brevity is a good thing in an adventure game. Dying part way through a dungeon and having to redo the section can be a little frustrating, but usually, not a huge amount of progress is ever lost.
A great 2D action platformer with some MetroidVania aspects. I'm so glad that I can add this to my list of completed games.
I do love how the cover art for this game features the hero, Shion, in trainers and a radical headband!
