Hey @buercher, wouldn’t it be great if we could opt in to #tootfinder by following an account? That would be way easier and less error prone. What do you think?
@user8e8f87c @fediversenews It would be great, but bot-instances refused to open an account and instance-hosting-providers refused to host an instance for a single account for tootfinder for ideological and practical reasons. @buercher @user8e8f87c @fediversenews Needing a whole Mastodon (or similar) instance seems like overkill. It only needs bare minimum ActivityPub support for follow/unfollow. Wordpress and other similar things support that.
@MetalSamurai @user8e8f87c @fediversenews This could be interesting to investigatez Have you a link to the WordPress extension that does this?

I feel like there must be other minimal ActivityPub code out there. @davew may be able to help?

How does something like this work when the users use an #instance with character limits? Will your blog posts still be shared to other instances?
@Stark9837 @buercher @user8e8f87c @fediversenews Shouldn’t be an issue. My instance has a limited post size (500?), but I see very long posts in my timeline all the time.
@MetalSamurai @buercher @user8e8f87c @fediversenews @davew
Oh, so it is limited on the sender's side, not on the receiver side. Interesting, thanks!
