Everyone seems to hate MS-DOS 4, but I actually think it's pretty neat. I like the oldschool MS-DOS Shell with its separate file management section and all those crazy colours. I also enjoy the fact that it plays really nicely with Windows 3.0 and the system's 386 Enhanced Mode. Something that, sadly, cannot be said about MS-DOS 5.0 or later.

@chellomere Sure! Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I had some serious issues getting Windows 3.0 to start on MS-DOS 5.0 or higher. I think this is an issue with extended memory management and EMM386.EXE.
This isn't an issue with Windows 3.1 or WfW3.11, but it sure is pretty annoying with WIndows 3.0.
@roman78 Nee, nur das normale MS-DOS 4.01. Dieses "Multitasking DOS" war nochmal was anderes, auch wenn man es aufgrund der Versionsnummer wohl leicht verwechseln kann.
MS-DOS 4 pushed me to DR-DOS :) But yes, its shell was nice.
